All students need to submit an official translation of their Health Insurance in Bulgarian upon registering at the Medical University. EU students must submit their European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), which they ought to have issued in their home country prior to their arrival in Bulgaria. The holder of this card enjoys free healthcare across all European countries. On the other hand, non-EU students have to purchase private health insurance in their home country or upon their arrival to Bulgaria. They must sign up for medical insurance either for a year (covering the period of the academic year) or for the entire duration of their stay at the University.
