A residence permit in Georgia is required for all individuals who want to stay in the country for more than 90 days and up to six years. Study residence permit is issued to applicants coming to Georgia to study at authorized educational institutions. Students shall apply to the Legal Entities under Public Law (LEPL) Public Service Hall for residence Permit issued with the right of temporary residence in Georgia.

To obtain a residence permit, a foreign students must either personally or via authorized representative apply to any territorial office of the Public Service development agency, branch of the Public Service Hall or Community Centre, or apply online. An application and enclosed documents submitted to authorized entities must be in Georgian. However, an application completed in English and/or Russian may also be processed.

A residence permit is issued by the Public Service development agency within 30 days after receiving a complete set of required documents.

Required documents for a student residence permit:

  • Filled in application form;
  • Copy of a travel document of foreigner;
  • Copy of a document proving the legal basis of staying in Georgia (in case of students copy of D3 student visa);
  • A certificate issued by an authorized higher educational institution in Georgia regarding studies (indicating duration of studies);
  • Document proving legal income or a bank statement;
  • Photo with size 3X4;
  • Service fee payment receipt (210 Georgian Lari or approximately 70 euros);
